Note Per my father Joseph Cox:

He states that his father, Joseph Lindley McGriff, left when he was very young. His mother, Rebecca Curiel McGriff Cox, had his name surname changed to Cox which was her current husband's surname.

Milo Cox was Rebecca's husband at the time and he adopted Joseph. Joseph states that Milo was abusive and he left at the age of 17 to join the military.

Joseph wanted to change his name back to McGriff before joining the military. He went to the courthouse in El Paso, Tx, to get a copy of his original birth certificate. They would not give him a copy because Rebecca had the court to seal the record.

I found the Texas, U.S., Naturalization Record which shows that his Birth Name is Joseph Lindly McGriff.

On October 30, 2022, I provided the document to my father.
