7. Activity Log
Introduction
The Activity Log provides a chronological record of significant actions and events within your LineagePress plugin. Itβs a useful tool for monitoring user activity, tracking imports, and reviewing recent system operations.
Accessing the Activity Log
Navigate to LineagePress > Dashboard, then click on the “Activity Log” tab.
Recent Activity
This section displays a list of the most recent actions performed in LineagePress.
Each entry typically includes:
- Date and Time: When the action occurred.
- User: The WordPress user who performed the action (or System for automated events).
- Action: A brief description of what happened (e.g., Person added, GEDCOM imported, Tree created).
- Icon: A small icon visually representing the activity type (e.g., π€ for people, π₯ for imports, π³ for trees).
Understanding Activity Categories
The Activity Log may include entries from a variety of plugin components:

Managing the Activity Log
Clear Activity Log
- Purpose: Permanently removes all entries from the log. Use this if you wish to reset your activity history or reduce database size.
- How to Use: Click “Clear Activity Log”, then confirm your decision in the pop-up prompt.
- Impact: All logged activity is erased and cannot be recovered.
Export Activity Log
- Purpose: Exports the full activity log as a CSV file for archival, analysis, or troubleshooting.
- How to Use: Click “Export Activity Log”. Your browser will download a file named
lineagepress_activity_log_YYYY-MM-DD.csv. - Impact: A copy of your log is saved locally; the original data remains intact unless cleared manually.
