4. Database Utilities

The Database Utilities section provides tools for managing and maintaining the LineagePress plugin’s database.
From here, you can perform essential operations such as deleting data, optimizing tables, and viewing database statistics.

⚠️ Important:
Many operations in this section are irreversible. Use caution, especially when deleting or reinstalling data.


4.1 Accessing Database Utilities

To access these tools:

  1. Navigate to LineagePress → Dashboard in your WordPress Admin.
  2. Click the Database tab.

4.2 Delete Data

⚠️ Warning: The following operations are permanent and cannot be undone. Proceed only if you have a recent backup.

Delete Tree

  • Purpose: Permanently removes a specific family tree and all related records (individuals, families, media, places, and sources).
  • How to Use:
    1. Select the tree from the dropdown list.
    2. Click Delete Tree.
    3. Confirm the deletion in the pop-up warning.
  • Impact: The selected tree and all its associated data are permanently erased.

Delete All Data

  • Purpose: Removes all genealogical data managed by LineagePress. This includes every tree, person, family, and media record.
    The plugin’s database tables remain but are emptied.
  • How to Use:
    1. Click Delete All Data.
    2. Confirm your choice in the pop-up warning.
  • Impact: All genealogical content is permanently deleted.

4.3 Table Operations

These utilities maintain the performance, stability, and structure of LineagePress database tables.

Usage Instructions

  • Click the appropriate action button (Optimize Tables, Repair Tables, or Reinstall Tables).
  • Confirm the operation when prompted.
  • Wait for the process to complete — large databases may take several minutes.

⚠️ Reinstall Tables should only be used as a last resort. It will completely remove all LineagePress data and structures.


4.4 Database Statistics

This section summarizes the current status and size of your LineagePress database.

💡 Regular optimization and occasional table checks help maintain performance, especially on large genealogical sites.
