3. Configuration Settings
The Configuration Settings page allows you to customize how LineagePress behaves, displays data, and integrates with your WordPress site.
These options control everything from naming conventions and privacy to template styling and sharing features.
🧭 Accessing Configuration Settings:
Navigate to LineagePress → Settings in your WordPress admin panel, then select the Configuration tab.
3.1 Display Settings

💡 Tip: The “Intercept WordPress Search” feature is useful for sites where genealogical data is a major content type.
3.2 Privacy Settings

Privacy controls determine what information about living individuals is displayed to visitors.
| Setting | Description | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Age Threshold for Living Individuals | Defines the maximum age at which a person is considered living if no death date is recorded. For example, an age threshold of 110 means anyone younger than 110 without a death date is treated as living. | Number input (e.g., 110) | 110 (typical default) |
| Assume Living if No Dates | Treats individuals without birth or death dates as “living,” applying privacy restrictions automatically. | Checkbox (Enable/Disable) | Disabled |
| Hide Living from Public | Hides all information about living individuals from public (non-logged-in) visitors. Logged-in users can always view living individuals. | Checkbox (Enable/Disable) | Disabled |
⚠️ Important: Privacy rules apply only to public visitors. Logged-in WordPress users will always have access to all individual records unless otherwise restricted by site roles or permissions.
3.3 Template Settings

Template settings determine how genealogical data is displayed visually on your WordPress site.
| Setting | Description | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| LineagePress Template | Selects the display template for genealogy pages. Template options depend on available themes (e.g., default, modern). | Text input (template name) | default |
| LineagePress Page Width | Defines the maximum width of genealogy content. Accepts values in pixels (1200px) or percentages (90%). | Text input | Plugin-defined |
| Inherit Theme Styles | Instructs LineagePress to inherit design styles from your active WordPress theme for a unified appearance. When disabled, LineagePress uses its built-in styling. | Checkbox (Enable/Disable) | Disabled |
🎨 If your theme already provides strong typography and layout control, enabling “Inherit Theme Styles” helps maintain a consistent site-wide design.
