👤 Managing Individuals Guide for LineagePress

The Individuals page (Location: WordPress Admin → LineagePress → Individuals) is your primary workspace for viewing, searching, and organizing all the person records in your family trees.

1. Overview and Navigation

The page provides an at-a-glance view of your people data:

• Quick Statistics: Real-time counts of Total People, Living $\bfa{\dagger}$, and Deceased $\bfa{\ddagger}$ individuals. You can click these numbers to instantly filter the list.
• Tree Selector: A dropdown to filter the list to only show individuals belonging to one specific tree (if you have multiple trees).
• Main Table: Displays key data for each person, including: Photo, Person ID, Full Name, Tree, Gender, and Birth/Death Date.
• Viewing Profiles: Clicking a person’s Full Name link will open their public WordPress individual profile page in a new browser tab.

2. Finding and Filtering Individuals

The search and filter options allow you to efficiently locate specific records.

Search Options

Search Type	Description	Use When
Quick Search	Searches First Name, Last Name, Person ID, and Birth/Death Places.	You know the spelling and want fast results.
Phonetic Search	Finds similar-sounding names (e.g., “Smith” finds “Smyth”).	You are unsure of the exact spelling of a historical name.
Exact Match	Only returns results that match the spelling precisely.	You are searching for a common name and need high accuracy.

List Sorting

You can click any column header to sort the list. Clicking the header again reverses the sort order:

• Name: Sorts alphabetically, typically by last name.
• Birth/Death: Sorts chronologically (oldest to newest, or vice-versa).
• Last Modified: Sorts by the most recently changed records.

You can click the Clear button at the top to reset all search terms and filters.

3. Working with Multiple People (Bulk Actions)

Use the checkboxes next to names (or the header checkbox to select the current page) to apply actions to multiple individuals at once.

Bulk Action	Function	Use Case
Delete Selected ⚠️	Permanently removes the selected people, along with their events, photos, and family connections. Cannot be undone.	Cleaning up test records or unwanted duplicates.
